I was recently asked by beauty guru Alice Hart-Davis to contribute to an article she was writing for Femail about makeup and beauty products that are multi-generational. Whittling it down to just a few was hard because there’s lots out there to recommend, but here’s the finished article, so swap with your teens and enjoy your life in makeup:

Honourary mentions that didn’t make the final edit are some mascaras that have remained on the shelves for ages, and for good reason. In many cases you end up paying more for higher-end packaging but these two have delivered for decades:

  • The cult classic Great Lash by Maybelline delivers honest and good-looking lashes without fancy marketing ploys. Iconic green and pink packaging is not to be ignored in the beauty isle and it’s a great price point.
  • L’Oreal’s Voluminous Mascara is another of my favourites – gives fluffier, voluminous looks and both of these are available in dark brown (a rarity, but very flattering on mature eyes)
